Self Appreciation Day who have partnered with Blackmores Sydney Running Festival, will welcome various triple j Unearthed artists, to perform next Sunday at the festival.

Self Appreciation Day was born in 2018 by CEO and founder Prema Smith, and is celebrated on 14th September each year. The day intends for each individual to appreciate themselves but also to go beyond just appreciating what they have to offer.

DJ Melt

Started pursuing his passion for Music in 2004 as a DJ and Radio Presenter at La Trobe University. After marking a name in Dubai and travelling for international events, DJ Melt moved to Sydney followed by Brisbane to embark on a new chapter in Australia. Apart from playing music internationally for various types of events, he has been welcomed in several radio shows. He is specialized in spinning open format music with an ability to entertain and maintain the crowd; keeping the dance floor busy.

DJ OSKA

From the window to the wall, Oscar Jamo has it all covered! As a professionally trained musician and Sound Producer, he began his DJ career in 2010. DJing and producing now under the name Oscar Jamo he has showcased his talents and passion for many different musical genres at several iconic Sydney venues as well as hundreds of various private and public events. Over these years he has developed a reputation around specialising in playing upbeat dance and melodic house sets, bringing that X factor to every event he participates in.

DJ StanTaylor

He started working as a DJ when he was 16 years old. Then carried away by a wave of popular dance music, he managed to carve out a place as the resident DJ at local disco clubs. That in a relatively short period of time began to get engagements throughout the country. Becoming well-known under the title DJ StanTaylor, his most notable success is the combination of passion for music with a great sense of professionalism. Till present day, he had a successful cooperation and he shared DJ desk with: Umek, Yolanda Be Coll, Faithless, Jerry Ropero, Narany, Tom Novy, Marshal Jefferson, Gramophonedzie, Laidback Luke, Jean Marie, Peter Dundov, Chris Lawyer, Angel Anx, Niki Belucci, and many others.

Dom Diaz (Feat. Kirstyn Niccolle + Dean Ginsberg)

Dom Diaz

Dom Diaz’s sole purpose is to make you move on journey through soulful melodies.

He is a multi-instrumentalist, soulful vocalist and inspiring songwriter. He will be accompanied by percussion enthusiast Dean Ginsberg and the beautiful voice of Kirstyn Niccolle on Self Appreciation Day.

Kirstyn Niccolle

Kirstyn Niccolle is a world traveller and creative artist originally from the UK. A newcomer to the Sydney scene, this Self Appreciation Day, Kirstyn will be accompanying Dom Diaz with her heartfelt and soulful vocals. The pair met on the central coast at a music venue four years ago and have been creating musical magic together since Kirstyn arrived in Sydney 5 months ago.

Dean Ginsberg

Dean Ginsberg has been an active member of the Sydney arts and events scene for a decade. Founder and curator of Real Good Sydney events, Dean is passionate about music, community and creating a positive impact. Dean, originally from South Africa, has been best mates with Dom Diaz for 5 years and the two infuse their passion and excitement for music at venues and events all over Sydney. This Self Appreciation Day Sydney, Dean will be accompanying Dom Diaz with Kirstyn Niccolle with his enthusiastic and passionate percussion skills.

Midnight Zephyr - Alternative Rock Band

Midnight Zephyr is an alternative rock band making waves across stages all over Sydney. Influenced by a mish mash of styles from sultry funk tunes to righteous rock, Midnight Zephyr has crafted a sound that showcases their individual roots while at the same time combining these together to create a sound that is uniquely their own.

Known for their dirty riffs and antics both off stage and on, they are becoming a force to be reckoned with.

Saba Saliba - PopElectonic Performer

Saba Saliba is one of Sydney's most exciting, flamboyant artist who writes and performs catchy pop rock electronic dance music songs.

Saba is passionately inspired by 80's Dance floor fillers; 12” Vinyl Records of Michael Jackson, Boy George, Madonna; and favourite song writers: Giorgio Moroder, Nile Rodgers, and Stock Aitken Waterman.

Damian Nixey - DJ

Digital Producer and Actor Damian Nixey lived in London from 1999 - 2008. He helped promote the successful house night "Lopsided" while DJing at Club Libertaire and Dust bar (27 Clerkenwell Rd). 

More recently, he was a guest DJ mix on MC Energy's "A State of Dance' radio show (Auckland, New Zealand) and has also played at The Loft UTS, Sydney.

Damian is Digital Media Director for the Cause Film Festival (CFF).

Now in its fifth year, CFF is an annual film festival that supports charities while giving filmmakers the opportunity to showcase work while promoting the cause they endorse.

The Delinquents - Dance Group

Delinquents DC has 13 members altogether, including the five-member competition group, with ages ranging from 11-20.

Iskandar started the crew in 2015 with the aim of teaching hip hop to the next generation. The Delinquents DC competition crew came first in the adult’s division at the Hip Hop International

championships final held in Brisbane in April, ensuring their place in the world dance championships in Arizona this August.

Gabzak - Solo Saxophonist

Gabzak has been sharing his soulful, old school and experimental jazzy sounds since 2017, when he took on street performing in Sydney.

Hailed as “Urban Experimental Saxman”, Gabzak has his roots in Smooth Jazz, Funk, Latin Psychedelic and Blues. Playing with slow and fast vibes, he can transport audiences into worlds of surrealism, nostalgy and poetry.

Its “a trip to a parallel world in one music session” said one of the guys in the audience. He can keep the people entranced with slow, improvised, smooth jazz and then make everyone dance with funk and Latin psychedelic fusion.

With a mix of saxophone, blues harp, keyboards and synthesizers, you will enter into this musical experience. People stop, breath, relax, kiss, dance, RUN and smile. This is Gabzak.

Chinese Dance and Musical Instrument Society

The Chinese Dance and Musical Instrument Society aims to provide training and performance opportunities for students interested in Chinese Traditional dance styles and musical instruments.

The society works towards providing a space for individuals to learn about and appreciate traditional Chinese culture. University of Sydney students are introduced to popular Chinese festivals and international talent competitions, fostering a deeper understanding of, love for, and affinity with Chinese culture through the lenses of dance and music. Both amateurs and professional performers are warmly welcomed to join in on training sessions and performances.

Tommy Francisco - Solo Artist - Guitar/Singer

Tommy Francisco has been playing songs with his guitar at dive bars since he was 16. He's gone through it all, from shouting drunkards singing along to Wonderwall, to sleeping stooges mumbling Sweet Nothings, to crowds that sing along to every word... and he's loved every moment of it!

Tommy is an acoustic loop station artist drawing inspiration from Ed Sheeran, Michael Jackson and J Cole. He combines all of these influences to create an eclectic mix of fast-moving, acoustic-based music.

Music is what he's best at and he hope to continue to enjoy and get better!

Dylan Billiondollars + Damien D-Dollar

Dylan Billiondollars is a 13-year-old rapper and a song writer. He performs with his younger brother Damien D-Dollar (9 years old).  They may be young, but they have years of experience performing and busking at Pitt Street Mall. Their videos are everywhere on the internet. Dylan is dubbed the next Biggie Smalls, or Minnie Biggie.  Dylan started writing songs when he was 6 years old. Now he produces his own music inspired by 90’s Rap and Hip Hop.  

Just a few of weeks ago, The Busking Brothers were on Snoop Dog’s radar; the king of Rap posted a shout out to the boys on Instagram.

Nicole Tania - DJ

Nicole Tania is one of Sydney’s most exciting new DJs.
This Sydney based female Hip Hop, RnB and Dancehall DJ of Caribbean (Barbados) and British background is taking the Sydney nightlife by storm and can play everything from disco, to 70s to now! The sets and gigs she performs are remarkable and unique due to the Caribbean/Afrobeat twist she likes to create for a more positive and upbeat vibe.

She has played all the top venues in Sydney including the Ivy, Marquee, Zeta Bar, Cargo just to name a few. Not only has she had success here in Australia, but she has also played in Barbados, England, Bali and New Zealand to adoring crowds. Due to her success she has been invited onto many up coming festivals including the Good life festival and The Newtown Festival in Wellington NZ.

New South Trio - Indie Rock Band

Fronted by teenagers Harry Tompsett and Aidan Glover and powered by the force that is Ed Rodrigues, The New South Trio have built a unique sound reminiscent of Corby, Mayer, Gary Clark Jr, Clapton and John Butler.

Incredible musicians with four years of performing live together, The New South Trio are showcasing their original music with two new singles.

The songs encapsulate the versatility, creativity, musicianship and uniqueness of the band.
